Step 1
In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
Cinnamon Rolls are a beloved classic—soft, fluffy, sweet rolls filled with a buttery cinnamon-sugar swirl and topped with creamy vanilla glaze. Whether served warm for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, they're guaranteed to fill your kitchen with irresistible aroma and your heart with joy. This homemade version is soft, gooey, and completely worth the effort.
In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, add flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix with a wooden spoon or dough hook until a dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 16x12-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter evenly, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over it.
Tightly roll the dough from the long side into a log. Cut into 12 even slices and place in the prepared pan.
Cover and let rolls rise again for 20–30 minutes while you preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
Bake for 18–22 minutes or until lightly golden brown on top.
Whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and cream cheese (if using) until smooth.
Let rolls cool slightly, then drizzle or spread glaze on top. Serve warm and enjoy!
